Finance Support Officer – Accounts Payable

Description
Deliver expert Accounts Payable and GST support, coordinating monthly financial processes to ensure smooth Council operations.
About the role:
- Report to the Finance Officer – Accounts Payable, providing support across Accounts Payable functions.
- Coordinate, monitor and process monthly trade accounts, ensuring accuracy, authorisation and applicable discounts.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of creditor accounts and investigate outstanding payment claims.
- Manage GST implementation, controls and reconciliations in line with Accounts Payable requirements.
- Assist with weekly payment processing, enforce internal controls for EFT/cheque payments, and relieve the Finance Officer when required.

We are seeking:
- Someone with a Certificate IV in Financial Services, Accounting, Bookkeeping or a similar relevant qualification
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Sound understanding of Accounts Payable processes and related financial systems.
- Proven ability to accurately complete high‑volume data entry and maintain precise financial records.
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
- Commitment to quality customer service, with experience using Technology One CiA (Finance One) desirable.

Where it's located:
This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
