- Central Coast Council is calling on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents who want to have a voice for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to apply for vacant positions on the Aboriginal Advisory Committee.

Today the Central Coast is one of the fastest growing regions in NSW, with the third largest Local Government Area (LGA) in NSW and the 6th Largest LGA in Australia. Additionally, we have the fastest growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in NSW.

Council regularly asks the community to help us strategically plan for the future of the Local Government Area and this is completed through a range of advisory groups and committees.
Central Coast Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced Aboriginal people, representatives of Aboriginal controlled organisations, and community stakeholders to be appointed to the Aboriginal Advisory Committee.
Key activities of the role include:
- understanding and active participation in discussions of the subject matters
- attendance at meetings, in person or Online
- applications will be assessed, based on experience, knowledge and expertise
- willingness to participate in onboarding activities, for example Code of Conduct training
- availability to attend quarterly meetings (4 per calendar year).
- provision of confirmation of Aboriginality as part of the Expression of Interest process.
Membership of the Aboriginal Advisory Committees will be on a volunteer basis and no fee or costs will be paid to members.
