Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.

North Sydney Council is currently seeking a proactive and dedicated Environmental Health Officer to help keep our community safe, clean, and healthy. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of local residents through your expertise in environmental health.

 

The role

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for investigating a wide range of public health and environmental concerns, including food safety, waste and garbage issues, premises sanitation, and various forms of pollution. You will carry out inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies, and respond effectively to community complaints and action requests.

This role will be will cover the full range of Environmental Health duties including: 

  • Investigating alleged nuisances
  • General routine inspections – food shops; skin penetration premises; cooling towers, swimming pools
  • Investigating public health incidents
  • Investigating matters under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997

To succeed in this role, you should have a qualification in Environmental Health or a related field, along with a solid understanding of applicable legislation and strong problem-solving and communication skills. We are looking for someone who is passionate about community health, committed to high standards, and keen to contribute to an engaged and collaborative team.

Salary Range: $89,892 to $107,336 pa + 11.5% superannuation + $1,000 pa Transport allowance 

35 hours per week with access to flexi time
