We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Literacy Officer who is dedicated to the education, growth, and development of young children in our community. In this impactful role, you’ll help embed the Early Childhood Literacy Framework by developing and delivering engaging programs that promote literacy—particularly for children from hard-to-reach or underserved groups. You'll work closely with parents and guardians, offering expert advice to support early language and literacy development at home, and you'll train library staff to present high-quality, evidence-based literacy programs. If you’re a speech pathologist who values early intervention and believes in the lifelong impact of strong foundational language skills, this is your chance to make a meaningful difference.
The Early Childhood Literacy Officer is responsible for:
- Implementing the Early Childhood Literacy Framework
- Develop and present education programs that promote literacy for young children, particularly those from hard to reach groups
- Provide literacy advice to parents of young children
- Facilitate the operational aspects of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library including enrolments (an initiative on behalf of Council)
- Train branch library staff to present quality early childhood literacy programs
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- A Diploma of Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)
- Bachelor of Human Science/Speech Pathology
- Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) clearance
- Knowledge and understanding of the Early Childhood Literacy Framework
- Experience working in a library or early childhood teaching environment
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- The ability to develop and implement new programs
- A current driver licence

Salary range: Grade 13 - $77,339.08 - $83,694.43 per annum plus superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
