The
Mid-Western Region is located 3 hours from Sydney and is one of regional NSW's
fastest-growing areas.
We have an
exciting opportunity for a full-time Development
Engineering Coordinator to lead, and
apply Engineering advice regarding proposed and future development of Council’s
infrastructure planning activities. This is a key role working alongside the
Manager, Infrastructure Planning involving the development of sound asset
management planning, design and development of pre-construction activities and
specification of the construction standards for assets delivered by Council and
Developers.
This is an ideal role for someone with a strong
civil engineering background who is ready to move to the next step and grow in
a diverse management role involving both hands on and strategic elements.
About You
- You are ready
to take on a leadership role - You know how
to co-ordinate, manage and motivate a team of technical staff to ensure
customer expectations and issues are met and exceeded in a timely and
appropriate manner. -
You can set and manage project performance expectations with team members,
contractors and stakeholders; and delegate tasks and responsibilities. - You possess
excellent knowledge and experience of statutory requirements and can provide
timely and accurate technical and legislative advice to ensure that development
assessment, subdivision and linen release requirements and targets are met. - You want to
be an integral part of the development of forward works for Capital Programs,
from Planning and Organising to design and other pre-construction activities. - You can
support the operations department with engineering advice and solutions in
areas such asflooding, drainage, asset management, design,
traffic management, road safety, emergency management and contract management. - You are keen
to participate in the development of appropriate strategies, policies and
standards that are linked to Council’s Strategic Plan. - You are a confident
and engaging communicator as at home with other engineers, as delivering
complex engineering/technical information in a simple understandable way to
non-technical external and internal stakeholders. - You are not
afraid to voice your opinion. - You are a
motivator, able to mobilise the troops and get them onboard with the latest
plans and actions, training or toolbox talk. - You are a can
do, problem-solver. - You are
organised and on top of the documentation and controls required to run a busy
department.

Essential Criteria
- Degree in
Civil Engineering or equivalent recognised by the institute of Engineers
Australia; - Class C
Drivers Licence; - Experience interpreting
legislative requirements as they apply to
Council Planning Schemes and their associated policies, codes and
guidelines; Australian Standards and other standards and guidelines relating to
development of infrastructure within the Local Government. - Extensive
experience in engineering related roles - Highly
developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and motivate
others; - Advanced
skills in public relations, liaison and negotiation including the ability to
identify, engage and motivate key stakeholders, - Creative and
analytical problem solving skills, including the ability to research and
analyse complex issues, showing initiative and good judgement in order to
deliver accurate and concise engineering advice; - Knowledge of development
assessment processes. - Proven
ability to project manage; including budgeting and contract administration; - Knowledge of
workplace health and safety responsibilities
