The role
The City of Canterbury Bankstown is seeking an experienced Coordinator to lead its Leisure & Wellness team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient delivery of Health & Wellness Programs across our Leisure & Aquatic Centres and Sefton Golf Course.
As Coordinator, you will oversee key teams, including the Swim School, Sefton Golf Course, and Gym & Fitness staff, fostering a safe and enjoyable environment that champions community health and wellbeing. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving strong financial performance and achieving KPIs across all Leisure & Aquatic Centre programs.
An exciting opportunity lies ahead as CBCity develops a state-of-the-art Leisure and Aquatic Centre in Canterbury. The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing innovative programming and ensuring the ongoing success of this landmark facility.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Lead, mentor, and support the Leisure & Wellness Programs Teams, ensuring quality services and programs that exceed community expectations.
- Monitor feedback, research trends and ensure programs support community health, safety, and wellbeing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by developing competitive, revenue-generating programs.
- Assist with marketing strategies, business plans, and recommend improvements for the Unit.
- Align facility and team goals with organisational objectives, promoting a high-quality service.
- Foster a positive, inclusive culture, promoting high performance and customer focus.
- Ensure staff are licensed, trained and equipped to perform duties safely and competently.
- Maintain staffing levels within budget and industry guidelines to ensure quality service.
- Oversee the operation of all Health & Wellness programs in Council’s Leisure & Aquatic Centres.
- Implement the Leisure & Aquatics Strategic Plan.
- Market and promote Leisure & Aquatic Centres and their programs alongside the Manager.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and effectively manage the approved budget.
- Oversee membership services, retention, and engagement for all programs and services.
- Ensure compliance with safety management systems, industry guidelines, and legislation.
- Manage WHS issues and ensure timely reporting and staff training on safety procedures.

You will have
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, WHS, or a related field.
- A strong understanding of relevant legislation and industry guidelines for Leisure & Aquatics.
- Proven leadership experience across multiple teams and venues.
- A track record in managing and delivering diverse programs and services.
- Expertise in overseeing high-quality Leisure, Aquatics, Wellness, and Fitness programs.
- Experience in performance management, training, and development of staff.
- Problem-solving skills for complex service delivery issues in the industry.
- Strong budget management experience across multiple venues.
- Solid background in Risk Assessment and Risk Management.
- Experience in managing Swim School, Fitness, Wellness, and/or Golf programs.
- Proficiency in administration and achieving KPIs.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- A Senior First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- A valid Class C Driver’s Licence.
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Desirable but not essential qualifications include Cert III in Community Recreation, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Austswim Certificate in Teacher of Water Safety, tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety, and certification in the delivery of CPR and Resuscitation Training.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $111,988 (Grade I, Step 1) + Car Allowance + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
