We are seeking a strategic and proactive Coordinator Enterprise Risk to lead our enterprise risk management services, identifying and mitigating current and emerging risks while overseeing crisis management and business continuity. This role ensures a strong risk-based culture, continuous improvement, and best value in risk management practices. Key responsibilities include overseeing Council’s insurance portfolio, providing expert advice to the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, and reporting to the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee. Managing sensitive community interactions, complex insurance claims, and leading a small team, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of local government operations, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to drive strategic risk initiatives.

About the role:

  • Lead enterprise risk management, crisis response and business continuity planning to safeguard Council’s operations.
  • Oversee Council’s insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate coverage and a best practice claims management system and Council's community emergency management requirements.
  • Act as the primary risk management advisor, supporting the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and reporting to the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.
  • Foster a risk-aware culture, driving continuous improvement and best value across the organisation.
  • Engage with the community on sensitive insurance claims and risk matters, requiring tact, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.

We are seeking:

  • A qualified professional with a degree in Risk Management or a related field, or extensive relevant experience in enterprise risk management.
  • An expert in contemporary risk management and business continuity frameworks within large and complex organisations.
  • A strong communicator with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • A skilled trainer with experience in designing and delivering risk management and business continuity training.
  • A proactive leader with proven ability to manage conflicts, operate in crisis situations, and oversee staff and projects effectively.

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
