About the team

The outdoor Civil Engineering team at Council is currently welcoming applications for the role of Concreter/ Construction Assistant. The Concretor/ Construction Assistant as a part of the Construction and Reticulation team is responsible for the satisfactory execution of general duties in the Concrete Structures Unit including the use of concreting skills for construction and/ or maintenance projects undertaken by the Civil Engineering Branch, including:

  • Day to day duties associated with Council's construction works.
  • Execution of clearing, excavating, and earthworks.
  • Concrete reinforcement fixing, form setting, placement and finishing.
  • Installation of pipes and headwalls.

Remuneration shall range from $1,202.09 to $1,292.15 per week, inclusive of Adverse Working Conditions allowance. In addition, overtime and other allowances are payable where applicable.

Examples of qualifications or training that would be advantageous:

  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence, or preferably a NSW Class MR licence or higher.
  • SafeWork NSW Traffic Controller (TCR) and Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) accreditation.
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card').
  • Formal trade qualification in construction techniques and experience in concreting works.
  • Completion ofWork safely in the vicinity of overhead electrical apparatus as a non-electrical workerunit of competency.
  • Completion ofEnter and work in confined spacesunit of competency.
  • Completion ofOperate and maintain chainsawsunit of competency.
