About the role
The Procurement team seeks an experienced procurement professional to lead the development and implementation of procurement policies, strategies, plans, capability uplift and improvement programs to enable achievement of the City’s Strategic deliverables and plans such as Indigenous procurement, sustainability/environmental, and social and ethical procurement, as well as other legislative and regulatory obligations, through the City’s procurement and contracting activities.
Key responsibilities:
- lead the development and implementation of procurement strategies, policies, procedures, systems and resources across the organisation ensuring ongoing compliance with internal and legislative requirements
- embed social and sustainable procurement practices in the organisation’s procurement policies, procedures and practices
- lead and implement a program of procurement continuous improvement activities across the organisation and develop and monitor progress against procurement targets and key performance indicators
- lead and implement effective governance, strategic risk management, controls and compliance monitoring processes in collaboration with the larger Procurement team
- develop reporting and analytics to monitor, measure and forecast organisational, divisional and procurement performance against deliverables and to enable prioritisation and identification of future opportunities
Qualifications and skills:
- experience in procurement, governance, program management, policy development or continuous improvement in a complex environment
- demonstrated practical understanding of social and sustainable procurement and ]
- strong strategic thinking and planning skills, balanced with proven track record of delivering tangible results in relation to social and/or sustainable procurement projects in complex environments
- clear understanding of Government procurement principles and application

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
