About the role
Our City Spaces contribute to the City of Sydney’s vision for a socially just and inclusive city by providing the community with access to a variety of public facing Community Centres and Venues for hire, as well as a range of other community buildings used for a diverse range of programs and activities. The Community Spaces Project Coordinator position is responsible for a range of projects which facilitate the use of community buildings by a range of community organisations, as well as supporting existing community tenants who operate from City of Sydney properties.
We are seeking a highly motivated person with existing project management skills, developed and honed in a community setting, or transferrable experience and skills. You must be interested in and capable of working in a very fast paced, deadline driven and politically sensitive environment. The person will work with a range Council teams and with external stakeholders who may have competing demands and priorities. These will need to be managed in a way that contributes to the achievement of Council priorities.
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Highly developed problem solving and project delivery skills, including the ability to manage multiple, high priority and often competing tasks which are required in a short timeframe. Excellent time management is essential.
• Ability to find, read, digest, summarise and prioritise both familiar and unfamiliar information quickly, and use this information to confidently make professionally sound recommendations in relation to buildings, projects and stakeholders in a highly politically sensitive environment
• Demonstrated experience in managing relationships, projects, contracts and agreements with a diverse range of community organisations, non government organisations and other stakeholders in a government or complex organisational context
• Demonstrated experience or tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines, including in project management, community focussed asset management, social impact management or community property management
The role is office based and will require attendance at Council properties and meetings with external stakeholders on a regular basis. The expectation is the role is primary based in Town Hall House and there are limited opportunities for working from home.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
