Casual Technical Staff
About the role
Are you hands-on, love live events, and thrive behind the scenes where the action happens? Bathurst Regional Council is seeking enthusiastic Casual Technicians to join the team at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC).
This role is ideal for people looking for flexible, ad hoc work that can fit around study, freelance projects, creative pursuits, or other employment commitments. As BMEC’s program continues to grow, we are particularly seeking technicians with strong mid-week availability to assist with weekday bump-ins, rehearsals, conferences, school performances, daytime events, and touring productions.
In this flexible casual role, you’ll help bring performances to life by assisting with staging, lighting, audio, and audiovisual event delivery; physically setting up and resetting performance, conference, and event spaces; supporting rehearsals and shows; and packing down venues and technical equipment after events to ensure spaces are safely restored and ready for future use. Experience or familiarity with professional audio systems, including Dante networking, will be viewed favourably. You’ll work closely with artists, presenters, and the BMEC crew to deliver outstanding experiences for audiences and performers alike.
We’re looking for reliable team players who are practical, adaptable, and quick to learn. If you enjoy problem-solving under pressure, have a keen eye for detail, and a passion for theatre, music and live entertainment, this is your chance to be part of Bathurst’s vibrant arts scene while developing your technical skills. Experience in live audio is highly desirable and will be viewed favourably.
