We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to more than 380,000 residents.

 

The Role

As a Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across a range of Council facilities, including libraries, community halls, depots and public amenities.

You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure facilities are clean, safe and well-presented for residents and visitors. This role plays an important part in supporting public health and enhancing the overall experience of community spaces.

You will also respond to cleaning needs as they arise, assist during events, and identify and report maintenance issues to ensure facilities are well maintained.

 

Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Clean facilities in line with schedules and required standards
• Maintain hygiene, including sanitising high-touch surfaces
• Complete tasks within required timeframes
• Respond to urgent or emergency cleaning requests
• Identify and report maintenance or safety issues
• Document and escalate hazards, vandalism or debris
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries
• Assist with cleaning before, during and after events

You will have:

• Experience in cleaning or maintaining facilities (desirable)
• Ability to follow safety protocols, including use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet schedules
• Experience identifying and reporting maintenance or safety issues
• Ability to respond promptly to urgent requests
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and ability to engage respectfully with the community
• A proactive approach to problem solving
• Understanding of workplace health and safety practices

 

The hourly rate for this casual opportunity is $29.73 (Grade A, Step 1) + 12% super. Click HERE to access salary information for all steps within the designated Grade.
