Are you passionate about ecological restoration and community engagement? Georges River Council is seeking a dedicated Bushcare Officer to join our City Technical Services team in Mortdale.

Permanent, Full-Time | $68,136.17 - $78,941.39 + 11.5% Superannuation

 

About the Role 

In this hands-on role, you’ll be part of a dynamic team responsible for managing and enhancing our city’s open spaces, including bushland and environmental projects. You’ll play a key role in delivering on-ground bushland rehabilitation and conservation efforts, while also leading the Bushcare and Bushland Management functions.

We’re looking for someone with a relevant qualification and demonstrated experience in ecological restoration including assisted regeneration, revegetation and large scale weed control. You will also bring a customer focused approach and can-do attitude to engage and influence key stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for Council and the community. You're someone who is knowledgeable in bush regeneration, conservation, and or land management. Your experience extends to coordinating volunteer programs and activities which aim to effectively educate and inform the community.

The successful candidate will have

  • Certificate III Conservation and Land Management (Natural Area Restoration) or equivalent experience
  •  ACDC Spray licence or Chemcert
  • Strong plant identification skills – native and exotic across a range of ecosystem types
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of ecological restoration including assisted regeneration, revegetation and large scale weed control
  • Experience in bush regeneration, conservation and land management
  • Willingness and ability to work in various locations throughout LGA to complete bush regeneration and weed management activities
  • Demonstrated physical fitness/capacity to perform repetitive bush regeneration, maintenance and revegetation tasks
  • Ability to work without supervision and as part of a team
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the coordination of volunteer programs and activities
  • Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
