About the position:

Would you like the opportunity to make use of and develop your handyperson skills?

The City is seeking a highly motivated and skilled trades person to join our dynamic team within the Property Services branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of City owned facilities, contributing to the overall safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our community spaces.

As the Building Maintenance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal condition of City assets. Your key responsibilities include visual inspections and maintenance, actively support installations and repairs, operate and maintain small plant equipment, and utilise technology for communication and work order management. Additionally, your role involves contributing to scheduled works and specific projects, all while meeting customer and stakeholder expectations and upholding Council's image and reputation.

Key accountabilities:
• Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance to City owned buildings as directed by the Building Maintenance Planner in a professional manner.

• Identify and report all maintenance issues, including initial assessments and recommendations to the Building Maintenance Team for action and recording.

• Conduct pre-start/use inspections of plant and equipment on a daily basis and report all faults/defects to the Building Maintenance Planner.

• Proactively undertake regular inspections of City owned building assets and determine priorities in conjunction with the Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Position requirements:

The City is looking for a candidate who holds trade qualification (preferably carpentry) and industry experience in building maintenance. The successful candidate will have the ability to undertake building maintenance projects with knowledge and consistent compliance with work health and safety practices.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary ranging from $78,497 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
