The primary purpose of the role is to provide professional support, service and maintenance in the operation of Council’s resource recovery and waste facilities in line with Council’s Delivery and Operational Plans.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Mentor resource recovery and waste staff, coordinate the activities of staff on a daily basis ensuring effective delegation of tasks, rostering and allocation of plant/labour for tasks.
  • Enable the pre-planning, programming and delivery of resource recovery and waste operations and ensure Councils’ works are delivered as per developed works programs and contractual requirements.
  • Supervise the organisation of daily activities at Council’s resource recovery and waste facilities ensuring that work is completed safely and in accordance with Environment Protection Authority standards, Council’s operational plans and best practice guidelines.
  • Provide efficient and effective administrative support including such tasks as:  rostering, invoicing, timesheet collection and review, e-filing and maintaining accurate records of all incoming and outgoing waste, recyclable and reusable material.
  • Ensure accurate screening and sorting of incoming waste to minimise quantities directed to landfill and ensure that all materials are deposited in site specific locations be they recyclable/reusable or specific waste deposits - inert waste, putrescible waste, asbestos, etc.
  • Ensure works comply with Quality Systems including standard of works and environmental protection issues.
  • Champion a safety culture within the team to ensure a safe workplace for our people by monitoring compliance with policies, procedures, legislation, specifications, projects plans and any other documentation required for the successful delivery of capital and maintenance works.

We are seeking someone who has or is willing to obtain:

  • Certificate IV in Waste Management or similar qualifications and/or several years demonstrated experience
  • SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
  • Current Class HR Driver Licence
  • Proven competency for LL - Front End Loader/Backhoe
  • SafeWork certificate for High Risk LF - Forklift
  • Nationally accredited certificate or proven competency for LL – Front End Loader
  • Nationally accredited certificate for Work Near Overhead Powerlines

About the Role

Full time: 76-hour fortnight

Salary: Range from $68,135 to $78,353 pa + 11.5% super
