Located approximately 1000km south of Darwin and 500km north of Alice Springs. Tennant Creek has a population of 3,252 and is the largest town in the region.

The Barkly Regional Council is the second-largest Local Government by land mass in Australia. The estimated population of the Barkly Regional Council is 6,316 spread over 7 communities (2 regional towns and 5 remote communities). Employing an average of 200 staff, of whom 63% are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, we are committed to delivering services for residents of the region.

About the Role:

The position of Ampilatwatja Team Leader – Community Care is responsible for the provision of community-based Aged Care and Disability Support Services in remote settings.

You will oversee a team of Community Care Officers who provide direct support to vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals and families in the community.

The Essentials:

• Territory qualifications or equivalent experience in aged or disability programs.
• Proven leadership and motivation skills with the ability to work with aged, disability, and community groups.
• Hold a current driver’s licence.
• Have completed 4WD training or have a willingness to undertake training.
• Hold a current Ochre Card and National Police Criminal History Check.

The Finer Details:

• Salary of $80,057.24 per annum ($1,539.56 gross per week).
• Remote Communities Zone Allowance of $2.51 per ordinary hour worked.
• 11% Superannuation.
• Annual Leave of 6 weeks paid with 17.5% leave loading.

• Relocation Assistance of up to $5,000.
• Where eligible Council will provide the successful applicant with subsidised housing in Ampilatwatja at $50 per week.
