Inverell Shire Council is looking for someone like you for the role of Administration Officer.The Administration Officer is responsible for providing word processing, clerical and office administration services for Inverell Shire Council's Civil Services and Environmental Services Divisions, and to assist with word processing and office administration in other Divisions at Council as and when required.
About the role
As a key member of the Administrative Services team, Council's Administration Officers provide or support the delivery of a variety of services to the Inverell Community, through:
- Performing a variety of word processing, clerical and administration duties which may include preparing a variety correspondence, certificates, agreements, minutes or memorandums, as well as preparing or assisting with the preparation of business papers.
- Arranging meetings and making appointments for staff across the Civil Services and Environmental Services divisions, and coordinating via Outlook.
- Acting as the first point of contact for Council's Civil Services and Environmental Services divisions and assist customers directly, or where necessary directing their queries to the appropriate staff member.
- Liaising between members of the Civil Services and Environmental Services divisions where their responsibilities take them out of the office.
- Completing the administrative processing of Development and Complying Applications, Construction Certificate Applications and other applications including NSW Planning Portal.
- Accepting queries, requests and applications received from customers into Council's Pathway system.
- Ensuring that all records generated in the course of their work are appropriately recorded in Council's records management system.
- Undertaking filing, photocopying, scanning and binding of business documents.
- Completing monthly balancing to the general ledger of divisional registers.
- Processing Companion Animals Act registrations and associated documentation.
- Relieving other staff members within Council as necessary and where directed, assist other divisions with administrative tasks, and liaise with the division Managers as directed on tasks being undertaken.
Remuneration shall range from $1,118.30 to $1,194.12 gross per week, and a normal work week shall consist of 35 hours per week.

The following selection criteria shall be considered as part of your application:
Essential:

NSW Higher School Certificate.

NSW Class C Drivers Licence.

Proven successful experience in an office environment.

Capacity to operate in an office environment using Word, Excel, Outlook , Power Point and other general office computer applications.

Demonstrated ability, experience and commitment to excellence in customer service.

Proven high-level communication skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
-
Completion of suitable formal training in Office or Business Administration.
- Ability to type a minimum of seventy (70) words per minute).

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of theLocal Government (State) Award2026. The classification for the position is Band 1, Level 3, Grades 4. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,118.30 to $1,194.12 gross per week, and a normal work week shall consist of 35 hours per week.
