The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Project Manager - Transport to join our Transport Projects team within Infrastructure and Engineering Services.

This is a senior project management role responsible for the successful delivery of public civil infrastructure projects, predominantly transport assets, across the MidCoast region. You will provide high-level project delivery expertise and advice, manage complex projects and capital works programs, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with Council's Project Management Framework.

Working across the full project lifecycle, you will play a key role in project development, procurement and tendering, contract administration, budget management, stakeholder engagement and project reporting. You will also support and guide other Project Managers while contributing to the ongoing improvement of Council's project delivery standards, practices and processes.

In this role, you will:

You will take a lead role in the successful delivery of public civil infrastructure projects, predominantly transport assets, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed budgets, timeframes and service levels. Working in line with Council's Project Management Framework, you will oversee projects across the full lifecycle, including project development, milestone reviews, procurement and tendering, contract administration, budget management, reporting, surveillance, finalisation and project record management.

You will also provide effective program management for capital works, coordinate the design and development of future projects to ensure they are ready for delivery, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes. As a senior member of the Transport Projects team, you will provide advice, guidance, coaching and support to Project Managers and contribute to the continuous improvement of Council's engineering standards, project delivery practices and processes.

A strong focus on safety, compliance and accountability will be central to the role. You will ensure relevant legislative and statutory requirements are met, provide WHS guidance and support to workers and contractors, and help ensure site activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with Council procedures. You will also role model Council's organisational values and contribute to a collaborative, accountable and continuously improving team culture.

What you'll bring

You're an experienced project delivery professional with a strong background in civil or transport infrastructure and a demonstrated ability to successfully manage complex projects within financial and time constraints.

  • Degree-level qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a similar field.
  • Extensive experience and a strong record of achievement in coordinating and delivering transport infrastructure projects and associated project delivery services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant professional, legislative and regulatory requirements, including current engineering standards and legislation such as the Local Government Act, Roads Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, environmental legislation and associated regulations and codes.
  • Strong project and contract management capability, including experience in procurement, tendering, contract administration and project governance.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $124,400 - $136,800 p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience)

3.5% Civil Liability Allowance

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
