As the Branch Library Officer in Wee Waa you will assist with continuous improvement and innovative programs for the Narrabri Shire community. Working closely with the Library Coordinator, you will be actively involved in providing high-quality library and information services that are responsive to the recreational and cultural needs of the Narrabri Shire.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Branch Library Officer at Wee Waa, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of one of our library branches, ensuring that they are welcoming spaces where knowledge and creativity thrive. Your role is not just about managing books; it’s about building connections, fostering creativity, and enhancing cultural enrichment through accessible library services. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and maintaining the Library’s collection and resources, ensuring they are current, well-presented and ready for use by the community.
  • Participating in routine library duties, including reception duties, collection and reconciliation of fees and charges, processing resources and shelving.
  • Contributing to the currency of the Library Management System records through accurate data entry and care to detail
  • Providing excellent and inclusive customer service, including reference and readers advisory services, and digital literacy support

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate possesses a genuine passion for libraries and the community, thrives in a collaborative environment and has a knack for connecting with people. Our ideal candidate also will possess:

  • Certificate IV in Library and Information and Cultural Services or active progression towards or willingness to obtain the essential qualification and/or relevant experience in a customer service environment.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Demonstrated experience working in libraries or in a customer service environment.
  • Highly developed written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact positively with a diversity of customers.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the capacity to prioritise work and work unsupervised.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and online databases.
