Aquatic Ecosystem Project Officer

Posted: 6 days ago
Closes: 12 Jul

Work that matters, done with people who care.

Blacktown City is growing quickly, and we’re improving our waterways as the city evolves. As an Aquatic Ecosystem Project Officer, you deliver creekline and riparian restoration projects that improve how stormwater moves through natural areas. You plan works using site data and maps, set priorities, and coordinate contractors to carry out sediment removal, rubbish clearing and rehabilitation works. You are on site, checking progress, solving issues and making sure work is completed safely and to standard.

You manage contracts end to end, from preparing documentation through to monitoring performance, budgets and schedules linked to Environmental Stormwater Management Program funding. You also contribute to biodiversity projects by helping deliver actions from Council’s Biodiversity Strategy. This includes tracking outcomes, preparing reports and ensuring works meet environmental and legislative requirements.

Your advice shapes how bushland, wetlands and water sensitive urban design assets are maintained. You work with internal teams, contractors and the community to explain what needs to be done and why. The results are practical and visible - cleaner waterways, healthier vegetation and public spaces the community can rely on every day.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams – and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a term contract, full-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils
  • an entry level salary commencing at $1,679.52 per week
  • a 35-hour working week
  • access to Council's flextime arrangement
  • 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
  • ongoing training and development support
  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.

Our commitment to safety

Blacktown City Council is committed to safety. We have introduced alcohol and other drug testing at the pre-employment phase, and via a series of random and cause testing.

We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
