Your position and responsibilities:
As our Coordinator, Strategic Planner, you will be Council’s
strategic planning subject matter expert and lead a team of professional
planners to deliver major strategic planning projects. Your main
responsibilities will include:
- Lead
a team of strategic planners to deliver expert advice and outcomes on
planning proposals, developments, and development applications. - Drive
high‑quality strategic planning projects with a strong focus on community
engagement. - Oversee
the preparation and implementation of planning proposals, development
controls, and land‑use frameworks and guidelines. - Lead
the drafting, review, assessment, and updating of key planning documents,
including the Local Environmental Plan, Development Control Plan, and
Local Strategic Planning Statement. - Conduct
research and analysis to inform and update land‑use planning and urban
design documents, including vision statements, strategies, plans,
controls, standards, and policies. - Complete
strategic reviews of rezoning proposals and related infrastructure to
provide expert advice and support sustainable outcomes within time and
budget. - Deliver
high‑quality customer service to all stakeholders. - Lead
and support day‑to‑day operational activities as required.
You will bring strong experience in strategic and statutory
planning, along with a solid understanding of land‑use and development
processes. You will have a genuine passion for shaping the future of our
community and create social, environmental, economic, cultural, and
recreational opportunities.
To be successful in this role:
You will bring a strong foundation in strategic land use
planning, supported by the skills and experience needed to lead, collaborate,
and communicate with confidence. You will have:
- A
tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related discipline, along
with extensive experience as a strategic planner. - Demonstrated
capability in statutory planning, assessment, and translating planning
strategies into effective plans and policies. - The
ability to lead a team while also working autonomously to deliver timely,
high‑quality outcomes. - Strong
interpersonal skills, enabling you to communicate effectively and
sensitively while building productive relationships with a wide range of
stakeholders. - Excellent
written and verbal communication skills. - Confidence
representing Council in public forums in a professional and informed
manner. - Highly
developed research, analytical, time‑management, and project management
skills. - Flexibility
to work outside standard hours, including weekends, when required. - Willingness
to complete pre-employment checks including a police check and
pre-employment medical - Hold
a valid NSW Drivers Licence and NSW General Construction Induction Card
(White Card)
