Description

Be the key expert contact for surveying, land information and spatial data services at Council. Deliver professional surveying, conveyancing and land‑related consultancy that supports informed land management and development decisions across the organisation.

About the role:

  • Lead and deliver expert surveying, property and engineering GIS services
  • Serve as Council’s authority on geomatics, spatial data, boundaries and land titling
  • Resolve complex issues independently and provide trusted, high‑level advice
  • Oversee Council’s land, property and conveyancing activities end‑to‑end
  • Manage geospatial data, staff and budgets while supporting diverse stakeholders

We are seeking:

  • Degree‑qualified and NSW registered Surveyor, with a current driver licence and eligibility to practice at a senior level.
  • Strong background in cadastral and engineering surveying, including land titles, conveyancing, subdivision, and local government survey functions.
  • Proven capability in GNSS, works‑as‑executed surveys, ADAC compliance, quality control, and use of SCIMS and the CORS network.
  • Confident problem‑solver, skilled in resolving complex survey and land title issues using relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Experienced in managing geospatial data within GIS systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and practical usability.
  • Effective people leader and communicator, with experience managing staff and budgets, resolving conflict, engaging stakeholders, and maintaining OHS, EEO, and QA compliance.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Selection Criteria:
