Our Key Venues section oversees all of our aquatic and leisure centres, we deliver first-class activity and program choice. We have an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated individual with a commitment and passion for sport and leisure to join our team as Key Venues Communications and Events Officer. This position reports to the Coordinator Customer Experience. The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and delivery of our messaging through a variety of publications and materials including written, digital and social media.
An ideal candidate will assist in raising public awareness of the facilities to the broader community, and encourage visitation, participation, and hiring of facilities.
Position purpose:
- Assist Coordinator Customer Experience with the day-to-day running of Key Venue's media, public relations, promotions, and communications
- Assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of messaging through key publications, advertising, newsletters, and communications materials including written, social and digital media
- Assist in raising public awareness of the facilities to the wider community to encourage casual visitation, return visitation, regular bookings participation in programs and activities and the generation of special event hire
- Liaise with Council's Public Relations section to ensure consistency of message
- Preparation of media releases, newsletters, articles, speeches, promotional material, and digital/social media posts
- Preparation and coordination of Blacktown Venue Management (BVM) advertising requirements
- Liaise with local and metropolitan media groups
- Assist with promotion of Key Venues events
- In conjunction with the Coordinator Customer Experience, develop BVM communication and promotional strategies and devise implementation plans
- The development of promotional aids to encourage the growth of the BVM business
- Ensure a high-quality environment by complying with established promotional standards and requirements
- Maintaining effective customer relationships with local media to ensure opportunities for program development and promotion of services that meet individual and group needs
- Preparation of media releases, newsletters, articles, speeches, promotional material, and digital media
- Ensure the section operates successfully and in accordance with meeting the goals and objectives for BVM
- Assist in generating awareness of Key Venues
- Ensure a high-quality environment by complying with established promotional standards and requirements.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Suitable experience in a similar capacity and/or environment
- Current class C driver's licence.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,361.20 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
