The Planning Officer position is a permanent full-time role within the Development Services unit. You will act as the first point of contact for customers with enquiries related to land use and development, guiding them from the initial enquiry through to application lodgement and determination despatch.

Your responsibilities will include providing accurate information, assessing development proposals, and ensuring the governance and administration of applications meet the required standards. This role serves as an excellent stepping stone for individuals aspiring to develop their careers in local government planning.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about urban and regional planning and eager to contribute to our community's growth.

  • Tertiary qualifications or nearing completion in Town Planning, Urban & Regional Planning, or a related field.
  • Understanding of development assessment processes and the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
  • Experience in setting personal work objectives and monitoring performance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present and prepare quality reports.

In addition to the essential qualifications, candidates with experience in project management and collaboration across various disciplines will be highly regarded.

  • Package: $80,000 - $87,000 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation. Salary will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. 35 hours per week with the option of 19 day month flex time.
