We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.
The Waste Operations Team ensures efficient collection of domestic, recycling, garden, and commercial waste, emptying over 200,000 bins each week to keep our city clean, tidy and well-loved by residents and visitors.
We’re looking for reliable team members who:

The role
Support the Waste Operations team by expertly operating heavy equipment, such as rear load garbage compactors, ensuring efficient and cost-effective waste management.
As a Waster Operations Driver, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality waste management services. Your expertise and dedication will help maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of our community.

You'll operate heavy vehicles like rear load garbage compactors, ensuring waste is collected efficiently and safely.

Key duties include:
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Skilfully handle plant and equipment for waste and street cleaning, including rear load garbage compactors, side loaders, bin delivery trucks and handheld tools.
- Bin Collection: Carry out domestic, commercial, and public bin collections following service guidelines.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to Heavy Vehicle National Law, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) provisions, and other relevant road transport regulations.

You will have:
- Class HR Driver’s licence
- Well-developed communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and unsupervised
- Experience driving a heavy rigid vehicle
- Side loader experience is an advantage
The rate for this opportunity is $2,891 fortnightly (Grade D, Step 3) + AWCA2 + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
