ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are seeking a motivated and creative-thinking Data Scientist to bring fresh insight and innovation to our dynamic Information Systems team! Reporting to Council’s Coordinator Business Solutions, this position will analyse large datasets to uncover insights that drive business decisions. A key responsibility will be to develop data models and tools that help improve efficiency and streamline operations across Council.

To be successful you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Data Science and/or Analytics, or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline.
  • Sufficient experience in database management, automation and data analytics.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server (designing schemas, writing advanced SQL, performance tuning, and backup/restore).
  • Proficiency with Power BI (data modelling, DAX, and custom visuals).
  • Hands-on experience with Power Automate for workflow and process automation.
  • Expertise in data integration and transformation tools such as FME or similar ETL software.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and best practices.
  • Familiarity with API integration and managing data flows between systems.
  • Demonstrated practical and conciliatory approach to problem solving, ability to break down and analyse complex issues, and a result orientated can-do attitude.

The rewards

  • An annual salary range of $86,300 to $99,000 (plus 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
