The role & you

MidCoast Council is seeking a motivated and planning focused Sewer Engineer to join our Water Planning & Assets team. This role is crucial in delivering well managed water and sewer infrastructure projects and contributing to the strategic direction of our region’s long-term water and wastewater services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sewer infrastructure planning and concept design projects, ensuring timely and cost effective delivery.

  • Contribute technical expertise to strategic planning documentation including:

    • Long-term water and sewer strategic plans

    • Development servicing plans

    • Sewer servicing strategies

  • Prepare high quality water and sewer infrastructure concept designs, reports, cost estimates, and plans in line with industry best practices.

  • Support the Water Asset Planning Coordinator in providing expert engineering advice for sewer design. 

  • Assist in the implementation of programs such as the Inflow & Infiltration Reduction Program.

  • Prepare and review project requirement statements, concept designs, and business cases to ensure they meet Council’s strategic and operational objectives.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have experience in water and sewer infrastructure planning and design, with a strong understanding of engineering standards, best practices, and regulations. They will possess excellent project management and problem solving skills, and be able to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders. A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, is essential.

Salary: Base salary $91,700 p.a. - $100,000 p.a. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience) 

  • Civil Liability Allowance (3.5% of base salary)
  • Superannuation (11.5%)

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.

Closing date: Sunday 18 May 2025 at 11.30 pm.
