Your Next Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Planning Advisory Officer to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Development Advisory Services team.

In this key customer-facing role, you’ll:

  • Provide clear and accurate technical advice on planning, development, and building matters to the public.
  • Guide applicants through pre-lodgement processes, both verbally and in writing.
  • Support internal teams and customer service staff with professional advice and planning insights.
  • Help manage the planning portal and “clearing house” functions to ensure an efficient, streamlined customer experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Completion or near completion of tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline.
  • Relevant practical experience in a similar role. Minimum 2 years experience.
  • NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Sound understanding of development application processing, strategic planning and other local
    government and building related services.
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with a commitment to the provision of quality customer service.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team.
  • Commitment to quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce work within established timeframes and with limited supervision. Sound
    computer literacy with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).


Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Sound understanding of and ability to research and apply Planning & Building legislation and case law
  • An ability to clearly communicate complex legislation, EPIs and DCPs as they specifically relate to
    proposed developments
  • Qualifications in a relevant field such as urban design, heritage conservation, architecture,
    environmental studies, building surveying or other relevant discipline.
  • Understanding of, or experience of heritage matters and Land and Environment Court procedures
