In what is a unique role in local government, as the Planning Projects Officer you will assist with the preparation, coordination and implementation of a range of urban planning projects, studies, practices and policies that will contribute to the City in meeting its strategic objectives.

This role will, amongst other functions, assist in the implementation of:

  • the Rockingham Strategic Centre Precinct Structure Plan;
  • urban and infrastructure planning projects that respond to the opportunities presented by the AUKUS Defence Pact;
  • the City’s adopted Foreshore Masterplans to enhance the its vibrant coastline; and
  • planning reform to enable strategic industry and employment within the City.

Applicants considering this role will require:

  • A desire to learn and work as a contributing member of a small team.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, along with high level of analysis and interpretative skills.
  • Sound time management and organisational skills and experience in project management, specifically of an urban planning nature.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory requirements including relevant legislation such as the Planning and Development Act 2005 (WA) and the Land Administration Act 1997 (WA).
  • A Degree in Urban Planning or equivalent in a related field is essential, you also have experience in this field, making you eligible for membership to the Planning Institute of Australia.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  • Degree in Urban Planning or an equivalent/related field with eligibility for membership to the Planning Institute of Australia
  • Sound knowledge of statutory requirements including relevant legislation such as the Planning and Development Act 2005 (WA) and the Land Administration Act 1997 (WA)
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgement to solve moderately complex problems
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, specifically of an urban planning nature
  • Sound time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to research and analyse issues and data, evaluate solutions, make recommendations and prepare reports

We are offering a total remuneration package of $99,138 - $106,623 per annum, depending on skills and experience, and:

  • The option to co-contribute up to a further 5% to superannuation in addition to the 11.5% employer contribution
