Description

WHS Advisor Walcha Council & Uralla Shire Council

Are you passionate about Work Health and Safety and looking for a great opportunity to provide your expertise to Walcha and Uralla Councils? If so, we have the role for you.

The Position

This is a permanent full-time position, working across both Councils, helping us build a strong safety culture and protecting our workers and members of the public from harm.

You will be responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, integration and management of WHS systems, policies and procedures, as well as day to day reporting, investigation and compliance monitoring in this key role.

For more information, please see the Position Description when you apply.

About You

You will hold relevant qualifications or industry experience in Work Health and Safety, and ideally have experience in Local Government. You will be equally at home in the field - conducting investigations, audits and providing advice, and in the office – preparing reports, policies and procedures, as well as providing your expertise to both Councils at all levels.

You will enjoy travel, and visiting constructions sites, depots and other Council facilities, and communicating effectively with our staff. You will need to commute to Walcha & Uralla administration offices on a regular basis, but you don’t need to be based in Walcha to apply for this position.

You will ensure that Uralla Shire Council, and Walcha Council fulfil our responsibilities under the relevant Acts, Legislations and Policies, and that we provide the safest possible workplaces for all our staff.

Supported by a friendly and progressive minded Executive team and dynamic General Manager, this is an opportunity that you don’t want to miss.

What we Offer

This is a permanent full-time position (35 hours per week) with a negotiable (for the right candidate) starting wage of $1951.60 (gross per week) based on the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

We also offer all the usual great benefits of working in Local Government; generous Long Service Leave, flexible working conditions, and generous sick leave allowance.

As the role involves travel, the position includes a commuter use Council vehicle, with the option of a leaseback arrangement, as well as mobile phone. If you are considering re-locating to Walcha (it’s a fantastic community) there is also the possibility of Council provided housing.

You will be working as a valued member within a friendly, supportive and encouraging environment, and your responsibilities and actions will reflect Walcha Council’s core values of teamwork, respect, customer first focus and willingness to carry out assigned tasks.
