About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of an award-winning and innovative team that designs a wide range of transport projects aimed at building on Canning’s reputation as a welcoming and thriving City!

As a vital member of the City’s Infrastructure team, the Senior Civil Designer is responsible for planning, designing and implementing the City of Canning’s civil infrastructure projects.

We are open to considering applicants interested in working in a full-time or part-time capacity.  

A snapshot of your new role:

  • Prepare detailed engineering plans, designs and calculations for road works, traffic management schemes, stormwater drainage and other municipal works
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers
  • Project manage and respond to technical queries on allocated projects
  • Develop accurate schedules of quantities and design estimates for civil infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate with a diverse range of stakeholders and provide technical expertise to support
    decision-making processes
  • Liaise with the public and answering enquiries on community infrastructure projects

Who we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience delivering civil infrastructure projects and strong understanding of civil engineering principles, regulations, and best practices
  • Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design (or higher)
  • Proven experience and proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to calculate complex technical information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
