Manager, Development

The Package: This position is employed under the LG (State) Award with a Total Remuneration Package (TRP) starting at $180,681 gross per annum inclusive of vehicle allowance, supplementary allowance and 11% superannuation. There are also increases of 3.5% in 2024-25 and 3% in 2025-2026.

Full-time – 35 hours per week. Flexible work arrangements may apply.

Are you a leader in development with extensive professional experience in the sector, looking for an exciting new opportunity in a local government area with some of the highest economic development in NSW?

In this role you will:

• Support the sustainable growth of the LGA through assessment and determination of development, subdivision and buildings.
• Manage a large team of professionals including town planners, building surveyors and development engineers with 4 direct reports and 25+ indirect reports.
• Oversee the efficient processing of development and regulatory applications.
• Improve the customer experience, leading process improvement and using digital solutions to increase service quality and competitiveness.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline, with extensive professional experience.
• Demonstrated capability to manage change and improve business practices and processes. Ability to think strategically – from ideas to action.
• Ability to effectively lead officers so that service targets and strategies are delivered.
• Excellent communication skills to negotiation with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Working with us: The successful candidate will play a critical role in implementing change and improvements which the Council see as a priority and are invested in.  The candidate will lead the service delivery in building and planning and will be able to take pride in observing the output from the fully resourced teams, and work within their local community. They will join Council during an exciting period of economic development with major projects planned and ongoing across the Queanbeyan-Palerang region.
