ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Cumberland City Council proudly operates 14 Education and Care services across the community where our staff educate and care for children from birth to 13 years of age.

Across our long day care, out of school hours care and family day care services, our staff are passionate about empowering today’s children to become tomorrow’s future by teaching children to be respectful, resilient and confident in an environment that is accepting, safe and inspiring.

The Early Childhood Educator (Certificate III) is responsible for the planning and implementation of an innovative and educational program that provides a warm and caring environment that enriches and enhances the children's lives and compliments their families’ beliefs.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent approved by ACECQA, or working towards with completion within 12 months.
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
  • Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
  • Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
  • Proven skills and experience in education and care, customer service, communication skills both written and verbal, computer operating systems and effective time management and organisational skills 
  • A solid understanding in Code of Conduct, Child Protection legislation, National Quality Framework - Education and Care Services Regulations, Children (Education and Care Services) National Law (NSW), National Quality Standards and The Early Years Learning Framework

About this role: 

There are 4x positions available and will be required to work Monday to Friday on a rotating roster, between 6:00am to 6:00pm 

  • 1x permanent, full-time position working a 70 hour fortnight on a rotating roster between 7:00am to 6:00pm, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement (Friend Park Children's Centre)
  • 1x permanent, part-time position working  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 42 hour fortnight on a rotating roster between 7:00am to 6:00pm (Guildford West Children's Centre).
  • 2x term contract (12months), full-time position 70 hour fortnight on a rotating roster between 7:00am to 6:00pm, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement (Floating between different services based on operational requirement)

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $30.96 to $35.60 per hour plus 11% superannuation  
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
