Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Driver-Gardner to join our Urban Forest Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for being a motivated worker within a small team by ensuring that the planting, establishment and maintenance of public trees within the North Sydney LGA meets best practice objectives, requirements and standards as required by Council.

This permanent position will be based at the Parks & Reserves depot located in St Leonards Park in North Sydney, close to public transport and recreational facilities.

The ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience in arboriculture/horticulture and not be afraid to roll up their sleeves to get stuck in to hard work! 

 

Essential
  • Certificate II in horticulture/arboriculture or equivalent experience in the field deemed appropriate by Council
  • WHS Construction Induction – White Card
  • Demonstrated experience in arboriculture/horticulture practices, with a focus on tree planting and establishment.
  • Proven ability to follow procedures and instructions
  • Good communication and team work skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Be physically fit
  • Current Class MR Driver’s licence or willingness to obtain
Desirable
  • Chemical Application Accreditation
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Level 1 Chainsaw qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Powerline Close Approach Certification (5099)
  • Traffic Control Certificate- Blue/Yellow
  • Basic Computer literacy
  • High Risk Licence – Dogging Ticker
  • Experience in using a Hiab

Salary from: $60,141.51 to $71,571.16 per annum (including industry allowance) + 11% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance  + Uniform Provided

76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off
