About the role

The objective of this role is to provide support to individuals with disability in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguard Standards and funding objectives.  You will be responsible in supporting clients based on their individual support plans and needs within a residential accommodation/ OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) setting. As a Support Worker your responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and skill development – empowering clients to explore and develop their personal interests/hobbies.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders and supporting the client in the decision-making process to achieve their individual goals and aspirations.
  • Assisting with independent living skills, personal care and activities of daily living
  • Administering medication and implementing individual based support plans
  • Completing clear, factual, and concise written documentation and within an electronic reporting system (CTARS) and via email.
  • Providing personal care such as toileting, showering, preparing meals in line with individual mealtime management plans
  • Helping clients engage with their local communities and cultural services, through accessing community participation programs and recreational activities.
  • Provide support to children with disability in an afterschool care and vacation care setting.

So what do you need?

These can be physically demanding roles but are also positive and rewarding and to be successful you'll need demonstrated experience supporting and caring for people with a broad range of support needs relating to disability. You’ll also need:

  • Passion for the support and wellbeing of people with disability
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Empathy and a caring nature
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, we will also consider candidates who are currently studying.
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) certificate.
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check Clearance (If working with OSHC)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Verification (Or ability to obtain before starting)
