Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Building Surveyor to join us in the beautiful Bellinger Valley, upholding the highest standards of building regulation and safety.

About Us

Bellingen Shire is a picturesque and diverse area located on the Mid North Coast of NSW halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and just south of Coffs Harbour.  It has a total area of 1,605 square kilometres with a coastline of approximately 10km.  The region is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, including lush rainforests, pristine rivers, and the World Heritage-listed Dorrigo National Park.  The area is known for its diverse ecosystems, abundant wildlife, and charming towns, cafes and artisan shops.

Bellingen Shire’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and welcoming community make it a unique and attractive destination for both residents and visitors, with its emphasis on sustainability and preserving the environment adding to its appeal.

The Opportunity

The successful applicant will work closely with the Building and Public Health Team Leader, proactively keeping them informed on Building Certification matters including Building Information Certificates, Construction Certificates, Complying Development Certificates, Swimming Pool applications and Fire Safety.

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to negotiate, mediate and problem-solve complex matters. To be eligible for this role, it is necessary to have your Building Surveyor registration or be eligible for registration within preferably 3 months (6 months maximum).

Furthermore, knowledge of construction terminology and methodology and a current Class C Driver's License are necessary for this role.

You will be working in a multidisciplinary team alongside our Planning officers, Development Engineer, Environmental Health and Land Use Compliance Officer. Due to the small scale of our team, there is significant opportunity to be exposed to, and trained beyond, building certification services.

If you are interested in this position, you will have the opportunity to work in a team focused on continuous improvement and committed to supporting one another.
