About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and motivated professional to join Woollahra Council as Building Services Coordinator.

Reporting to the Manager Property & Projects, you will coordinate service contracts and consultancies related to Council buildings and manage Property and Projects outdoor staff operations and contractors who carry out maintenance at the various Council sites. 

You will also develop cyclical maintenance and upgrading programs for Council buildings and encourage a climate of continuous improvement amongst the trades’ staff.

Please note that this role will require from time to time additional hours and work commitments outside of the stipulated work hours. This will include the need to attend to urgent matters related to the functions of the Property and Projects Department and Council meetings, which may occur outside the general hours of work. You will be entitled to a generous Deed Allowance of up to $14,297 p.a. per annum in addition to your normal rate of pay in recognition of this.

About you

We are looking for a results-driven professional with proven high level facilities management and maintenance experience. You will have strong knowledge of compliance, standards and statutory requirements associated with building and equipment maintenance.

You will be a natural leader with the ability to lead a small team of tradespeople and contractors and will be passionate about supporting your team to deliver key outcomes in an exciting time of change and growth.

You will be a high achiever with: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in building facilities maintenance and/or building trades experience.
  • Demonstrated high-level facilities management and maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated contract management skills and experience, in a building facilities context.
  • Knowledge and understanding of building codes & standards, WH&S legislation, local government and tendering processes.
  • Knowledge of compliance, standards and statutory requirements associated with building and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience performing and coordinating building maintenance.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to plan and manage the maintenance and repair of building assets.
  • Previous experience in managing financial accounts, processing invoices and budgeting.
  • Proven experience supervising staff.
  • Good communication skills with highly developed record keeping, administrative and problem solving skills.
  • Highly developed time management skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Class C driver’s licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in local government.
  • Understanding basic principles and use of MS Project as a project management tool.
  • Experience in the use of Integriti Pro System Designer building security management software
  • Knowledge of asset management planning for buildings including ‘whole of life costing’ and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems.
