Traineeship Customer Service & Traineeship Tourism - 2026 Intake

Central Coast Council is excited to offer 2 x traineeship opportunities for motivated people who have an interest in gaining hands on work experience in our Customer Service and Tourism space. The objective of our program is for you to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to complete the program, with a view to establishing a career in your desired area.

Traineeship Tourism

Whilst completing your Certificate III in Tourism, you will be responsible for developing skills to provide excellent customer support in a Tourism setting, understanding visitor economy and contemporary practices for attracting tourism to destinations. This traineeship is based in the Marketing and Visitor Economy Section of Central Coast Council and will complete a Certificate III in Tourism.

Traineeship Customer Service 

Whilst completing your Certificate III in Business, you will be responsible for providing quality customer service to the residents of the Central Coast. You will learn to identify customer needs, providing recommendations and next steps, ensuring customers are informed in a timely manner. Get exposure interacting with customers face to face, with exposure to socials and other administrative roles, all with a focus on the customer centricity.   

About the program

Trainees will be placed in either our Customer Service or Tourism area for one year and are trained under the instruction of an experienced supervisor. You will be supported and mentored through your traineeship with both your hands on work and throughout the course of study. This program requires you to either a Certificate III in Business or a Certificate III in Tourism and along the way you will gain valuable skills and experience to be able to commence a career.  Council offers an excellent development program with exposure to many elements of the job throughout the course.

The Central Coast Council Customer Service Traineeship program require successful applicants to enter a training contract for:

  • One (1) year commencing in January 2026. 

The Central Coast Council Tourism Traineeship program require successful applicants to enter a training contract for:

  • 18 months commencing in January 2026. 

You will be provided with individual training plans and are required to undertake and complete the qualification at either a NSW TAFE campus or through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). 

These positions are required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

 To be successful in the traineeship, you will have:
  • Customer Service: minimum education requirement - Year 10 School Certificate or Record of School Achievement (RoSA) or equivalent leaving certificate. Please note: Current Year 10 students are eligible to apply and if successful in selection it will be based on the provision that they complete the Year 10 RoSA and provide documentation prior to commencement in position.
  • Tourism: Completion of HSC
  • Meet the screening requirement for registration as a Trainee qualification (previous completion of Vocational Training Advisory Board (VTAB) Accredited Certificate II, III or IV may disqualify application for traineeship).
  • Capacity to undertake training to obtain qualification in Certificate III in Business or Certificate III in Tourism.
  • A passion for the importance of being a team player in a highly team focused organisation.
  • A commitment in completing the required studies.
  • A willingness to learn from others to further your career.
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to provide the best quality service to the Central Coast.

Other important information

  • The salary range for these positions sit between $479.94 to $823.08 per week ($25,024 to $42,915 per annum) dependent on age and school qualifications + 11.5% Superannuation. 
  • We have 2 temporary full-time roles for the Traineeship Customer Service position. 
  • We have 1 temporary full-time role for the Traineeship Tourism position. 
  • These roles will be able to access a 9 day fortnight.
  • These roles are located at our Wyong Administration Building and may be required to work at The Entrance Visitor Centre.

Selection Procedure
