About the Opportunity

To help us achieve this we are looking for a Senior Transport Engineer (Strategic) whose prime purpose will be to oversee and manage the strategic planning for a safe and efficient operation, lead the future planning for transport infrastructure and traffic management strategy, plan for the efficient journey and safe access for all transport and road users and integrate strategic transport management through the application of engineering, urban planning principles and community principles. The successful applicant must have significant recent experience with overseeing civil engineering planning for large transport networks. The Successful applicant will have:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or other relevant engineering discipline acceptable for membership to the Institute of Engineers Australia), or recognised degree in other discipline with relevant experience to the position.
  • Significant recent experience with overseeing civil engineering planning for large transport networks
  • Proven skills in investigation, plan development, estimating and design of transport infrastructure works.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder negotiation skills.
  • Experience in developing strategic road safety programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing or informing transport strategies and/or long-term action plans..
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to community needs and expectations.

On a typical day, this role will:

 

  • Develop and maintain a future works program for road, path and transport assets including renewal, upgrade, new and strategic maintenance regimes as part of Council's Delivery Program and Resource Strategy.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in embedding the principles of strategic policies, practices and plans.
  • Lead the development of Council transport and road asset strategies, policies, and plans.
  • Inform and assess planning proposals, development applications and grant applications.
  • Consider road safety and user data, including crash data, traffic volumes, road condition, parking and pedestrian surveys to develop strategic road safety programs.

 

Remuneration and Benefits

Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week

Salary (exclusive of super): In the range of $108,247.14 to $121,813.92 depending on skills and experience

This role also qualifies for a Leaseback or Vehicle allowances and 3.5% Civil Liabilities allowance.
