Reporting directly to the Manager Governance and Councillor Support, you will lead the planning and delivery of multiple specialised governance projects, ensuring high quality and best practice outcomes are achieved. Projects will focus on the City’s decision making processes, its Advocacy Program, Governance Framework and business improvement.

You will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare concise and contemporary discussion papers and reports. Possessing a comprehensive knowledge of the local government sector and Australian government framework, your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to build and maintain constructive professional relationships both within a multidiscipline organisation and at an intergovernmental level. Highly organised and with strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills, you will be able to plan, drive and deliver agreed project outcomes on time and within budget.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  • Ability to understand and interpret relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research, problem solve complex issues, and develop clear and concise briefing notes and discussion papers with supporting recommendations.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement skills with knowledge of Quality Assurance Principles and or the Australian Business Excellence Framework.


We are offering a gross salary ranging from $97,537 to $103,141 per annum depending on experience and qualification, and:

  • 11% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
