The Legal Services department is responsible for the enterprise risk management framework, internal audit and insurance claims management in order to ensure Council’s financial and operational controls are carried out in an effective, efficient and ethical manner.

About the role

The Senior Internal Auditor undertakes audits and reviews in line with the adopted plan to provide assurance to management and the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee (ARIC) that Council's financial and operational controls are adequate and operating effectively. The role also provides support and reporting, including recommendation completion status, to the quarterly ARIC meetings.

Essential criteria

  • Degree in a Business related field
  • Solid experience in an internal audit or similar role
  • Proficiency in undertaking risk-based audit testing procedures and techniques
  • Sound analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

Desirable criteria

  • Local government experience
  • CPA, CA, CIA, ACCA qualified
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and techniques
  • Data analytics experience
  • ICT systems auditing experience

Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $96,099.00 - $111,238.00 per annum, plus 10.5% Superannuation, and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.

This position requires the worker to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or to hold a medical contraindication certificate.
