Wagga Wagga City Council is one of the largest inland regional cities in NSW and currently has an outstanding opportunity available for an experienced professional with exceptional leadership skills to join the organisation to assist with and drive an organisational change and growth agenda.

Our City is growing, and the organisation is preparing to support this growth. Our population is forecast to increase by over 21 per cent by 2036. Our prime location between Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, combined with an increase in business and industry as well as affordable prime industrial land, has attracted a number of Federal and State Government major infrastructure projects such as Inland Rail and the Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct.

Reporting to the Director Regional Activation, this is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire an enthusiastic team of professionals in the development and implementation of key strategies related to land-use, economic development, recreation, and community infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced leader to head-up our City Strategy team to create an attractive, liveable, and competitive City promoting sustainable growth, investment, and employment.

You will support the growth of the City through key partnerships with State and Federal Government, business, and industry, attracting investment opportunities, and providing advice, to assist with the relocation and expansion of commerce in Wagga Wagga.

What you will need to succeed:

Key to your success in this role will be your ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders coupled with your ability to create a vision for, and to provide positive leadership to, your team. You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications and will bring to the role significant demonstrated experience in either urban land-use planning and strategy, economic development or recreation planning. You will also possess outstanding communication skills and the ability to develop innovative, workable and effective solutions to complex problems.
