Permanent full time - commencing October 2024
Salary - $73,810.61 - $116,185.05 per annum (pro-rata) + Super (Salary level dependent on qualification, teacher level and years of service)

Yarra City Council currently has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our Children’s Services team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will commence their journey with Yarra at our Keele Street Children’s Centre campus in Collingwood.
Rated as EXCEEDING the National Quality Standards and winners of the Emeritus Professor Colette Tayler Excellence in Educational Leadership Award in 2022, Keele Street Children’s Centre is a uniquely small integrated Long Day Care and Kindergarten service with a strong focus on family engagement and community connections.
The successful applicant will become an integral member of our integrated Kindergarten team, working Monday – Friday during term to provide the highest standard of education and care to the youngest citizens in our diverse community. Nature pedagogy is high on our agenda again in 2023, so we’re looking for a Teacher who is passionate about teaching outdoors, exploring indigenous perspectives and potentially has some Bush Kinder experience.
Being successfully appointed to this role as a full time Early Childhood Teacher in Yarra means that you will be able to enjoy the generous employment conditions:

Required qualifications and attributes:
• Bachelor of Education (Early Years), (or equivalent),
• Up to date First Aid, CPR, EpiPen and asthma management qualifications,
• Valid Early Childhood Teacher VIT Registration and ability to renew,
• Team focussed approach,
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate responsive routines and programs guided by the approved learning frameworks,
• Current mandatory reporting training, and
• You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job.
Desired qualifications and attributes:
• At least 3 years’ experience working as a degree qualified teacher in a funded Kindergarten Program,
• An understanding of the importance of Indigenous perspectives education,
• Bush Kinder (or other nature pedagogy) experience,
• Experience with Xplor or other online learning platform, and
• Ability to demonstrate a competent level of English, both written and spoken.

Yarra operates five children’s centres located throughout the municipality. The centres provide long day care programs for children aged from 6 weeks of age until they commence primary school. Our long day care programs operate for 10.5 hours per day Monday to Friday, 50 weeks of the year.
