About the role

Are you passionate about protecting digital systems and staying one step ahead of cyber threats?

As our Information Technology Security Officer, you’ll play a key role in keeping the Council’s IT environment safe, secure, and future-ready. You'll be at the heart of our IT team, working across a wide range of technologies—from networks and servers to endpoints and applications. Collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you’ll help ensure our systems remain secure, reliable, and aligned with industry standards and Council policies.

To be considered for this position you will need to:

  • Address the essential criteria
  • Attach a cover letter (2 pages maximum) and an up-to-date resume (5 pages maximum) that clearly details your skills & experience as relevant to this position. You will need to demonstrate how you meet the focus capabilities and how your skills will enable you to achieve the key accountabilities.
  • Target questions - answer the 3 target questions - maximum 300 words each question
    Q1. Describe your experience in developing and implementing security documentation to meet Security Accreditation requirements. What challenges did you face, and what were the outcomes?
    Q2. Provide examples of how you have applied ICT security frameworks and principles to enhance the security management systems of a organisation. How did you ensure successful implementation?
    Q3. Share your experience in developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness initiatives, campaigns, or education programs. What strategies did you use to engage your audience, and how did you measure their effectiveness?

This position is located at Council's Grafton office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.

A probation period applies to this position.
