The Position
The Graduate Finance Officer will report to and work directly with the Financial Accounting team to provide support in in maintaining accurate financial records and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation. This role involves completing end of month reconciliations, daily bank reconciliations, monitoring cash flow, exploring investment opportunities, grants monitoring and compliance, and providing assistance to the accounting team as needed.
This role will have access to resources and support to obtain professional CPA certification (or equivalent). This development opportunity will develop their accounting acumen and contribute to their long-term career progression within Council.
About You
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Economics or Accounting
• Ability and desire to undertake additional studies to achieve CPA status in accordance with Council’s Study Assistance policy
• A high level of analytical and problem-solving capability
• Experience with business systems and applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Proactive and not afraid to challenge the status quo
• High level of interpersonal communications and excellent time management skills including the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
• Capacity to work effectively in a team environment and provide quality customer service
• Knowledge of local government financial management and accounting practices or the ability to develop understanding of same

Our Region
