Expressions of Interest - Civil Construction Assistants

Parkes Shire Council occasionally has casual, temporary and permanent opportunities available as Civil Construction Assistants within our Operations, Parks & Gardens and Infrastructure work areas.

If you are interested in working as a Civil Construction Assistant with Council:

Your expression of interest application will be considered when a Civil Construction Assistant position becomes available within Council.

Parks & Gardens

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of Council's urban landscapes
  • Operate small plant and equipment
  • Maintain public amenities


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Water, sewer and drainage maintenance labouring
  • Water service repairs and meter reading
  • Water, sewer and drainage pipeline construction
  • Pit and manhole maintenance and construction
  • Concrete labouring
  • Traffic control

Pre-employment Screening

In the event you are shortlisted for an interview, and are then selected to progress to the next stage following interview, you must be prepared to undergo the following pre-employment screening processes as part of the selection process:

  • A pre-employment physical examination (at Council's expense), including a hearing and drug and alcohol test
  • Please include two work related referees in your resume for reference checking purposes - please ensure your referee details are current
  • Undertake any other applicable screening that may be relevant to the role
  • Council may also check authenticity of certificates and qualifications
  • Provide the applicable Working with Children Check number as the role may involve working with work experience students

Working With Children Check
