Full-Time (flexible start dates)

Starting salary Band 3A - $61,912.59 p.a. (that’s $31.33 per hour) + Super + RDO

Yarra City Council is seeking dedicated candidates to fill multiple Early Childhood Educator positions with a starting location at Connie Benn ELC in Fitzroy. To learn more about us you can watch our video HERE.

We are looking for passionate educators to join our children's services team and provide high-quality education and care through trauma-informed, child-centred, and family-focused practice.  Successful candidates will be enthusiastic about continually providing a strength-based curriculum that promotes positive relationship building.

Candidates will have prior experience, knowledge and understanding of how trauma affects the lives and needs of children and their families. Candidates will contribute to the creation of a safe and supportive learning environment. You will be committed to fostering trust, choice, and collaboration with the children in our care, in partnership with your peers, families, and the community. You will implement strategies that promote recovery while minimising the risk of adding to trauma and promoting positive learning and development outcomes for children.

Our full time educators typically work on a cycle of 19 consecutive 8 hour weekdays with each 20th day a rostered day off.

Yarra is looking for dynamic educators with a solid understanding of the learning frameworks, National Quality Standards and the National Regulations, with a strong commitment to high quality innovative programs for children and families in diverse communities. Ideal candidates will have experience in working collaboratively with colleagues, other members of the profession and the community. You will have a passion for contributing to children’s educational and developmental progress and wellbeing. You will  be able to build sustained engagements with children and build strong relationships with colleagues, children, families and the community.

Applicants are also required to have:

  • An ACECQA approved Cert III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Equivalent or higher)
  • Up to date ACECQA approved First Aid, CPR, EpiPen and Asthma Management qualifications,
  • Valid Working with Children Check or VIT registration,
  • Current mandatory reporting training,
  • Meet the government requirement’s for mandated COVID-19 vaccination,
  • You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job.
