Join the journey to creating the incredible as our Coordinator Ranger and Emergency Services.  In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating the Shire of East Pilbara’s Planning, Preparedness, Response and Recovery Phase of a disaster or emergency event within the Shire boundaries as well as assist with preparing, developing, implementing and continually improving the Emergency Management Plan and other relevant Community Safety Plan as well as participating in the daily activities of the Community Safety Services Section to ensure objectives are achieved effectively and efficiently by applying positive work practices to develop and promote awareness of legislation and Shire local laws in the interest of good community relations and public safety within the Shire.

You will have:

  • Relevant Emergency Management qualifications from a recognized Tertiary or TAFE Institution;
  • Completed a Fire Control Officer’s course or similar qualifications and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, emergency management legislation, regulation and practices with particular emphasis on cyclones, bushfires and floods;
  • Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution as well as verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in leading a small team to achieve identified objectives and outcomes;
  • Experience in working with Indigenous people and knowledge of their beliefs and customs as they relate to the execution of the prescribed duties;
  • Organisational and time management skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently manage resources;
  • Acquired the initiative to work unsupervised, positively influence community compliance in an ethical manner and adhere to confidentiality provisions to the role;
  • Good knowledge of, and experience using computer systems and software packages (MS Office, Synergy); and
  • A Current WA ‘C’ Driver’s License.

Remuneration and Benefits:
