The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team delivering on human resource services to enhance our organisation culture, attract talent, build our capability, and manage employee relations.

Reporting to the Manager Organisation Development, the Coordinator People and Culture is responsible for fostering our positive team culture building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, and leading the team to deliver high quality outputs.

Required skills & experience 

To be successful in this role, you should possess tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Psychology or Business Management and/or demonstrated work experience relevant to the role; and demonstrated experience in the coordination of recruitment, learning and performance development programs to attract and develop talent.

Ideally you will possess experience leading a small human resource management team; facilitating group workshops and training; designing and delivering leadership and organisation development initiatives; and using digital HRM applications to deliver transactional HR services.

Key accountabilities include

  • Facilitating the design, implementation and evaluation of organisation development initiatives and projects to reinforce Council’s values and foster the development of a high-performing workplace culture
  • Coordinating programs to develop Council’s leadership capability
  • Administering Council’s employee engagement feedback survey and development of the corporate engagement action plan
  • Developing and implement strategies to attract, develop and retain talent
  • Overseeing the recruitment and selection of employees across Council including advertising, interviewing, pre-employment vetting, staff induction and onboarding
  • Managing Council’s position establishment and position classification systems
  • Overseeing the identification of training and professional development requirements
  • Coordinating the annual performance development review and quarterly employee recognition programs
  • Ensuring compliance with Local Government and employment-related legislation and industrial instruments.
