Your role in Our Vision

The Civil Works Manager plays a crucial role in implementing and overseeing Council’s civil works functions. This includes managing the capital works program, road rehabilitation, footpath construction, and various drainage projects. The position is responsible for ensuring that all civil works are executed safely, efficiently, and sustainably, in alignment with the Council’s strategic objectives.

Accountable for the development of robust systems and processes, the Civil Works Manager will optimise asset performance and ensure the effective use of resources while delivering high-quality outcomes for the community.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering and experience in managing complex infrastructure projects. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate effective leadership and has a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors.

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with eligibility for membership in the Institute of Engineers (Australia).
  • Experience in local government or comparable environments managing civil construction and maintenance programs.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of workplace safety practises, risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation. Experience in high-stake stakeholder environments is highly desirable.
